The Hotel Show, the Middle East’s hotel supplies exhibition, has revealed that is has to reserve additional stand space at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre in order to cope with escalating sales enquiries. The industry exhibition, organised by dmg world media, is due to take place June 4-6.
“At last year’s event we hosted 597 exhibitors from 46 different countries, which was a 48% increase over the previous year, so we are confident that our projections for 2006 will be realised,” said Bernard Walsh, managing director, dmg world media.
Walsh has predicted that the show will grow by 20% over the 2005 edition, with an increase in international participants. The number of national pavilions has grown to 14 with Belgium, China, Malta, Greece, Brazil and Canada making their debuts at last year’s event.
Visitor numbers have also increased over the last two years. In 2005, the show attracted 8,124 visitors, a 44% increase over the previous year. In fact, 40% of those registered came from outside of Dubai, indicating the mounting international interest in the event, especially from Kuwait, Iran and Europe.
Mary Lynn Landgraff of the US Department of Commerce echoed the feedback from many exhibitors when she said, “We appreciated the professional edge, the type of visitors and the layout of the event. We will be back in 2006 with a stand twice the size of the one we had for 2005.”
