Three foreign and two local contractors are chasing a billion dirham deal to build an 88-storey residential tower at Emaar’s Dubai Marina development.
They include Austria’s Bau Holding Strabag AG, German consortium Al-Rostamani Pegel, South Korea’s Ssangyong Engineering and Construction, Oger Dubai and Al-Naboodah Contracting.
Thirty-two companies originally lodged bids for the construction of Marina Tower.
It is understood that Strabag submitted a price of US $ 299.3 billion (AED 1.09 billion).
This would be Strabag’s first major project in Dubai. The company has also submitted a $268 million bid for a 4.1 km runway at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
“We are hoping to get both contracts and build on our business in the Middle East,” said Frank Purgstaller, commercial director for Strabag’s export department.
