Jakarta woos regional investors

The Indonesian capital of Jakarta is looking to put recent troubles behind it and woo investors at this week’s Arabian Travel Market

A one-day seminar held in Dubai yesterday was designed to woo regional investors to the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. The meeting aimed to showcase Jakarta’s potential for tourism, trade and other business activities.

The seminar, entitled, ‘Jakarta The New Face Of Indonesia,’ was part of the city’s presence at this week’s Arabian Travel Market. The exhibition runs this week at the Dubai World Trade Centre from May 1-4.

The seminar was addressed by Parlindungan Hutabarat, executive director of Jakarta City Government Tourism Office, and His Excellency Bapak Ibrahim Yusuf, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Arab Emirates.

“This exhibition will present the cultural richness of Indonesia and give visitors a chance to see what the country has to offer,” said H.E. Bapak Ibrahim Yusuf. “People will also see the new face of Jakarta, which is keen on furthering friendly relations and a closer relationship with the people of the UAE.”

This week’s promotion is backed by the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Jakarta’s Agency for Export Promotion and the Indonesian Ministry of Trade and Industry.
