An Indian labourer was crushed to death and another seriously injured after scaffolding collapsed on Al Diyafah Road in Dubai earlier this week.
The men were among four labourers trying to dismantle the temporary scaffolding — which had been put up to move medical equipment onto the first floor of the Belhoul European Private Hospital — when the accident happened.
After receiving first aid from staff at the hospital, the men were taken to Rashid Hospital, where one of them later died of severe head injuries. The other also suffered head injuries and is believed to be in a critical condition.
The incident follows a Dubai Municipality report published last week, revealing that 39 construction workers died after falling from scaffolding in 2005.
