Regional distributor Logicom picked up the prize for best GCC distributor in 2005 from Microsoft at the software giant’s recent partner summit in the region. Going head-to-head with half a dozen Microsoft distributors, the award recognises Logicom’s strong regional performance in 2005.

“It is an awesome feeling to receive this award from Microsoft,” said Vineet Dalal, Microsoft product manager at Logicom. “To reach this level has taken a great deal of hard work in a highly competitive market. Being named distributor of the year for the region shows how well we have done in the GCC markets.”

“I think there were a couple of factors behind our success,” he continued. “Logicom’s Microsoft distribution business has grown at a significant rate and our market share has increased as a result. At the same time we have really started to reach out in-country in markets such as Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. This strong performance has been building quarter-on-quarter.”

Microsoft’s recent Gulf partner summit, held in Dubai, reiterated the vendor’s determination to develop its regional channel and build up the range of skills available in the Middle East to take its broad product portfolio to market in the appropriate manner.

“Microsoft has developed a professional approach for working with its distribution partners in the region and the result has been a highly successful relationship with Logicom that will continue to develop even further in 2006,” concluded Dalal.
