Peripherals and digital device vendor giant Samsung Electronics gathered together its distribution partners in the GCC for its annual IT channel convention. During the event, Samsung executives outlines the strategy for 2006 to more that 30 attendees.
Samsung’s IT division currently covers a wide range of products including monitors, printers, optical disk drives and hard disk drives. As well as outlining its plans for 2006, Samsung executives also took the opportunity to review the vendor’s 2005 performance during the course of the daylong event.
J.H. Park, president at Samsung Gulf Electronics, speaking at the distributor convention, declared: “The annual IT distributor convention is a critical step in outlining the company’s year-long strategy. It helped us discuss our country-specific strategies and ways to consolidate our leadership position in GCC.”
“Furthermore, the meeting with the distributors’ top management team provided us with an ideal platform to reinforce our commitment to developing the markets locally across the GCC countries,” he added.
Samsung recently expanded its channel tie-up with Almasa, extending the distributor’s rights outside the UAE and giving it rights across the entire GCC (with the exception of Saudi Arabia) as well as in Yemen and Egypt. Samsung first appointed Almasa as one of three UAE distributors in the third quarter of 2004. With the extension of its rights, Almasa has now become one of only two regional distributors working with Samsung in the Middle East.
