Six new building materials factories are to be built in Abu Dhabi to cater for the growing demand from the booming construction sector.
Abu Dhabi based Arkan Building Materials and Saudi Arabia's Construction Production Company (CPC) have teamed up to establish six factories for producing building materials and one logistics support cargo company in the UAE capital.
The total cost of the projects is US $204 million (AED 750 million).
"This agreement will introduce new technology into the construction industry in the UAE," said Salem bin Mohammed Al Zahiri, CEO of Arkan.
"CPC enjoys a long experience and outstanding reputation in the construction materials field. And the new industrial complex will provide great supply service to all construction projects regardless of their scale, which will help speed up the pace in these projects and reduce their costs. As our study of the market indicates, this new partnership will open new possibilities in the construction market in the UAE."
Arkan will supervise the work on all engineering and architectural designs, and follow up with the execution of the project.
Hasan Bin Laden, the executive president of CPC, said the company's decision to export its new concept outside of Saudi Arabia and establish its first operation in Abu Dhabi was based on the UAE's ongoing construction boom. For all the latest construction news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
