UAE humanitarian authority honours Abu Dhabi Co-operative Society for its contribution to charity.

Abu Dhabi Co-operative Society (ADCOOPS) has received the Giving Award from the charity UAE Red Crescent.

The one-stop-shop retail chain was recognised on Monday evening for its organisation of the Giving Festival last year.

Faisal Al Arshi, ADCOOPS deputy general manager was handed the accolade from HE Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, chairman of the board of directors of UAE Red Crescent.

"We have always supported Red Crescent for the last two decades. Our sponsorship of the organisation's charitable and humanitarian projects is part of our commitment of giving back to the community," said Al Arshi.

Since its inception, ADCOOPS has made many significant contributions to social causes within and outside the UAE, including annual donations to charitable organisations and its support of local sports and cultural activities.

Established in 1981, ADCOOPS has grown into a US$2.9 billion organization that employs 1,800 retail professionals from 56 countries.

It is a private joint stock company with 100% Emirati ownership. ADCOOPS' business interests include hypermarkets, supermarkets, shopping malls, retail parks, large concept chain stores, franchise operations, retail property management, real estate and investments.
