Abu Dhabi's Department of Transport (DoT) said on Sunday it has decided to exempt vehicle owners from parking fees for 45 minutes after Adhan, the call for prayer.

The exemption will apply to parking lots in the vicinity of all mosques that are located in the Mawaqif area of Abu Dhabi, the DoT said in a statement published by state news agency WAM.

Transport chiefs urged people not to violate the rules or block fire hoses or park in spaces designated for people with special needs.

The obligatory Muslim prayers fall at daybreak, noon, afternoon, sunset and early night.
