The organisers of Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix are targeting ticket sales at the British leg of the Formula One season later this month as part of a major marketing push for the race.

Grand Prix venue Yas Marina Circuit, Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority said that they would use a raft of high-profile sponsorship activities, a fan competition and direct sales counters during the UK GP at Silverstone on June 27-30.

"The international profile of the Formula One, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and Abu Dhabi as its host city, continues to grow at a tremendous pace," said Richard Cregan, CEO, Yas Marina Circuit.

"Last year, we welcomed our largest international audience to date and this year, we are building upon that success through leveraging a wide array of marketing and sales initiatives to increase footfall from one of the emirate's key international source markets."

Sponsorship at the Silverstone event will include renaming the nearby Whittlebury Park campsite as the Abu Dhabi Fan zone, and the distribution of 20,000 gift bags to campers, which will include Etihad-branded blankets and waterproof ponchos.

One bag will contain a luxury trip for two to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, due to take place in the UAE capital in the first week of November.

An Abu Dhabi Pavilion will also be erected at nearby Whittlebury Park Golf Club.

Last month, organisers said that more tickets will be made available for this year's Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix weekend as organisers say they plan to increase capacity at Yas Marina Circuit.

Overall capacity for the 2013 event, the fifth F1 race to be held in the UAE capital, will grow by 10 percent compared to last year - increasing the daily attendance target to 55,000, organisers said in a statement.
