Finmeccanica-AgustaWestland has announced a deal with Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services for firm orders for two AW189 super medium helicopters.

The contract will expand Falcon's fleet of AgustaWestland helicopters, which already includes light helicopters such as Grand, GrandNew and will shortly include the new AW169.

The new 8.3 tonne AW189 is optimised for oil and gas offshore transport and has already received orders for 130 helicopters, the company said in a statement

The cabin is configured with up to 19-seat layout and meets the very latest international regulatory safety requirements, it added.

With its main operating base at Al Bateen Executive Airport, Abu Dhabi, Falcon's services include corporate jet charter, helicopter tourism, aerial photography & filming, aerial banner advertising, offshore/on-shore oil and gas support, aircraft maintenance and aircraft management.

In July, Bombardier Aerospace announced that Falcon Aviation Services had signed a firm purchase agreement for two CS300 jetliners.

Based on the list price of the CS300 aircraft, the contract is valued at approximately $153.6 million, the planemaker said.

The transaction is a conversion of the letter of intent to acquire one CS300 aircraft and one option that was announced in February.
