Sheikh Mansour's Premier League leaders batter Man United 6-1 in record victory
Manchester City produced their best performance in years as they humiliated current Premier League champions and city rivals United with a 6-1 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday.
For United, it was their biggest home defeat and nearly 60 years and signalled Man City's arrival as genuine title contenders this season.
Roberto Mancini's team are now five points clear of United at the top of the English Premier League.
Immediately after the final whistle, bookmakers in England installed Man City as the new favourites to be champions at the end of the season next May.
City's controversial Italian striker Mario Balotelli lit the fuse by scoring the first two City goals either side of half time.
Balotelli was also involved in the game's decisive moment, with United defender Jonny Evans sent off for bringing him down.
Sergio Aguero scored a third before Darren Fletcher pulled a goal back but it was too little too late for a humbled United as first Edin Dzeko bundled the ball home and then David Silva raced through to slot under David De Gea.
The scoring was completed when Dzeko ran through United's defence to complete the humiliation. For all the latest sports news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
Well how does it feel Manchester City to be dubbed a suburb of Abu Dhabi, I don't suppose you care! Congratulations the petro-dollars have built a great team.
I feel sure that the rumour machine linking Qatar to Man Utd will be back on full throttle as the Glazers pay the price of a reducing investment in players!
