Acer reckons that it is in prime position to become one of the top three PC vendors globally during 2007.

Emanuele Accolla, VP at Acer EMEA, said: “Acer is now the number four PC vendor worldwide and we are going after the number three position very aggressively. We hope to have taken third spot by the end of next year behind only HP and Dell.”

The Middle East is certainly playing its part with Acer sales in the region continuing to impress and a number of projects with Emirates Airline and Etisalat secured this year.

Acer was also recently named the largest PC vendor in the UAE by research houses.

“Being named number one is great news for Acer because the UAE is a key market in the wider regional context,” added Accolla. “We have seen some strange pricing from some other vendors recently that indicates that they may be dumping some excess inventory here on an opportunistic basis. We would never do that because the UAE is such a strategic market for Acer.”
