Acer wins Lebanese finance contract

Acer has scored a deal to supply 30 units of its G540 Acer Altos servers to Lebanese bank Credit Libanais.

Acer has scored a deal to supply 30 units of its G540 Acer Altos servers to Lebanese bank Credit Libanais.

As part of the deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, Acer will also provide sales and technical support through its local partner Computel Lebanon

“Having met the demand for servers in many of the world’s highly sophisticated financial institutions, Acer is proud to be the supplier of choice to Credit Libanais Bank,” Philip Ashkar, regional marcom manager, Acer Computer said.

Acer’s other clients in Lebanon include the Lebanese operations of the Jordan National Bank, which also installed servers from the Taiwanese vendor.

The notebook and desktop computer supplier has enjoyed strong growth in the EMEA region over the past few months. It currently has a 12% market share in PC shipments in the EMEA region, according to the latest results from IDC, and is beaten only by HP.

The firm’s PC shipments jumped 46.7% in the first quarter of 2007 over the same quarter a year earlier, according to the research.
