Deal will see ARI extend its association with the airport; has been the duty free retailer since 2003 in JV with Oman Air
Aer Rianta International (ARI) has been awarded a 10-year contract to manage the new duty free outlets at Muscat International Airport by the Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), it has been reported.
The deal will see ARI extend its association with the airport as it has been the duty free retailer at the existing airport in a 50/50 joint venture company since 2003 with Oman Air, Travel Retail Business reported.
The win also follows its recent duty free gain at the new Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) in Abu Dhabi.
The new $1.8bn facility at Muscat International is set to open next year, complete with 5,000 sq m of duty free space.
TR Business said the Muscat operation has delivered annual sales turnover levels in excess of $50 million in past years and also includes the management and operation of the Oman Air in-flight duty free operation.
The new facility will be able to handle 12 million passengers a year and A380 aircraft will be able to be accommodated. For all the latest retail news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
