Africell to acquire Millicom Sierra Leone
Africell plans to consolidate its position in Sierra Leone by acquiring rival operator.

Africell Holding SAL has agreed to acquire Millicom SL Ltd, a mobile operator in Sierra Leone, for an undisclosed sum.
Africell Holding, which already leads in Sierria Leone’s mobile sector through its subsidiary Africell Sierra Leone, will make the acquisition from Millicom International Cellular SA, an organisation with mobile operations in Asia, Latin America and Africa.
Africell Holding has been operating in Sierra Leone since 2005 through its subsidiary, and expects the acquisition to bolster its lead in a market that already has five GSM networks, with up to three more expected to launch shortly.
Africell Holding’s parent company, the Lintel Group, provides GSM services under the Africell name to more than 1.3 million subscribers in Sierra Leone and Gambia.
