Air India advertised 197 job openings for captain and first officer positions and then held walk-in interview sessions for two-days in Hyderabad last week. But, according to Australia’s news.com.au website, no one turned up.

The website quoted an airline crew member as saying: “It’s a statement on the state of affairs at Air India that a once-sought-after job failed to attract a single applicant.”

According to the report, the airline has been facing crew shortages since last year.

The Indian government is also planning to set “anti-poaching” rules to bar airlines from hiring each other’s staff.
