Abraj Towers is a joint project between Etihad Airways and Aldar properties and will begin providing accommodation at the end of this month. The housing development will open in phases, the first consisting of 200 one bedroom apartments.

Eventually the community is expected to house more than 1000 staff in one, two and three bedroom apartments. The complex will include both furnished and unfurnished homes, a 2363 square metre supermarket, a gym facility and a swimming pool.

Etihad Airways chief executive, James Hogan, said: "As Etihad workforce continues to grow, the need for good quality affordable staff housing is a top priority." With over 4850 employees based in the UAE, company officials are confident that Alder will be able to provide a spacious, good quality housing development, ideally located for Etihad's workforce.

Ronald Barrott, CEO of Alder Properties, said: "Partnering with leading Abu Dhabi companies to further develop the future of the Emirate has been a core component of our success to date and will remain a commitment for the future."
