Al Ain is to get its own urban structure framework plan similar to that of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 in the next few months, according the to Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC).

The plan, drawn up by UPC and regional developers, including ALDAR, is intended to help preserve the unique pattern of the ‘oasis’ city.

“The Urban Structure Framework Plan for Al Ain will be officially announced in the coming months,” said Falah Al Ahbabi, UPC General Manager, in a statement to the press.

Developer ALDAR has already announced changes to its plan for Noor Al Ain, its mixed use development in the garden city, in anticipation of the new guidelines. Changes made include alterations to the building heights. The developer declined to disclose further information on the changes to the masterplan or an estimated cost of the alterations.

“ALDAR is keen to bring its heralded concept of integrated development to Al Ain and will do whatever it takes to deliver the future growth of the city as envisioned in the plan while ensuring that the culture and heritage of the area are preserved.” said Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Chairman, ALDAR Properties.

Abu Dhabi Plan 2030 is a comprehensive development plan aimed at ensuring sustainable and aesthetically pleasing development within the Emirati capital.
