Al Ain hospital gets $34.5m extension, revamp

A AED127 million ($34.5 million) plan to expand and renovate a hospital in Al Ain has been completed and will be handed over to its operator in the next few months, it has been announced

Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) said in a statement that it has completed the expansion and rehabilitation works of Al Waqan Hospital in Al Ain city.

The expansion and renovation works consists of the addition of 25 hospital beds, caesarian operation room and 14 specialised clinics, including ENT, pediatric, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, quarantine, ultrasound scanning, in addition to the renovation of the emergency room in the old building, as well as a helipad to be used in emergencies.

The hospital will be handed over to Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) over the next few months, it added.

"This project will meet the population growth requirements in the region, providing integrated healthcare services to its residents by developing the basic infrastructure needed to support and achieve international standards in the provision of healthcare services," said Ali Al Haj Al Mehairbi, Musanada's acting executive director - Building Construction Management Division.

He added that the project also includes a four unit dialysis department, a pediatric intensive care unit and accommodation for doctors and staff.
