Al-Futtaim Logistics expands services for automotive industry

Al-Futtaim Logistics is increasing its delivery fleet for the transportation of automobiles throughout the Middle East.

Al-Futtaim Logistics is increasing its delivery fleet for the transportation of automobiles throughout the Middle East.

The Dubai-based company has reported a heavy increase in customer demand from the automotive industry, including major international companies such as Toyota, Chrysler, Honda and Volvo.

In response, it plans to expand its fleet of ‘car carriers' from 25 trucks to 37 trucks by the end of the year - increasing its handling capacity from 600 units to 900 units per day.

"This is a milestone in the development of Al-Futtaim Logistics, allowing us to provide market leading solutions that meet international standards in best practice," said Michael Stockdale, general manager of Al-Futtaim Logistics.

"With this additional capacity in the transportation of automobiles, we can fulfil each customer's medium and long term needs at the highest possible level," he added.

In addition to the transportation of automobiles, Al-Futtaim Logistics offers a range of additional services to the industry, including vehicle clearance, pre-delivery inspection and specialised storage.

"We currently operate three distribution centres within the United Arab Emirates, including locations such as Al Awir and Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, plus a multi-storey car park in Abu Dhabi," said Stockdale. "This allows Al-Futtaim Logistics to store and handle up to 15000 units per months. Throughout this process, we have predefined and rigorous quality assurance checks, which results in a cost effective automotive supply chain solution unparalleled in the region."
