Al Futtaim unveils m-Trak

Al Futtaim Technologies has launched m-Trak, a web-based tracking system for managing vehicle fleets.

Al Futtaim Technologies has launched m-Trak, a web-based tracking system for managing vehicle fleets.

m-Trak, developed by MobiApps in partnership with Al Futtaim Technologies, is targeted at large transportation and logistics companies. The solution will allow fleet managers to log in from any PC to access real-time information on a specific vehicle or group of vehicles through the internet.

Based on Global Positioning System (GPS) and GSM mobile technology, the system generates critical information such as speeding, unauthorised stoppages and emergency SOS alerts.

“m-Trak combines internet technology, GPS and wireless terrestrial networks such as GSM/GPRS into an affordable fleet tracking and monitoring system. This will revolutionise the ability of fleet owners to track and manage their fleets,” said Vishesh Bhatia, group director electronics at Al Futtaim Group.

According to the company, fleet managers can enhance their operations with map-based tracking, remote device configuration and two-way voice and text communications, by combining the m-Trak transceiver with the m-Trak application.

“MobiApps satellite transceiver, GPS and terrestrial wireless chipset technologies provide low power consuming, low cost and reliable global connectivity for a variety of asset tracking applications,” said Sanjay Chakrabarty, CEO, MobiApps. “The MobiApps–Al Futtaim partnership will substantially enhance deployment of fleet management systems and telematics in the GCC region, through usage of wireless and satellite communications,” he added.
