Prominent Dubai businessman Majid Saif Al Ghurair was on Sunday named as the new chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Al Ghurair is the CEO of Al Ghurair Group, chairman of Drake & Scull International and a board member of National Cement Co and NASDAQ Dubai.
He is also a board member of Dubai Economic Council, has played a leading role in the formation of the Middle East Council of Shopping Centres (MECSC) and is currently its chairman as well as chairman of Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG).
Two vice chairmen, and Executive Committee members of the Chamber were also appointed on Sunday.
Majed Hamad R Al Shamsi and Hisham Abdullah Al Shirawi were appointed as vice-chairman, while Abdul Jalil Yousuf Darwish was named treasurer and Helal Saeed Al Marri, vice treasurer, as well as Raja Easa Al Gurg and Yahiya Saeed bin Ahmed Lootah as members of the Executive Committee.
Two new committees - the Permanent and Audit committees - were also formed, a statement said.
