Al Islami heads to Egypt

The Halal food processing giant expands its Cart concept to Egypt.

Al Islami Foods has expanded operations into Egypt with the launch of ‘The Cart', a franchise model for young entrepreneurs in the region.

Initially offering more than 1000 carts in Egypt, Al Islami Foods will work alongside a local company that will organise the logistics and transportation of The Cart.

Previously launched in the UAE at Gulfood 2007, The Cart includes a microwave oven, chiller for sandwiches, a hotdog grill, counter display chiller and cash machine, so sandwiches and hotdogs can be prepared and sold instantly.

"We will continue to create a fertile ground to flourish and assist the region's emerging young entrepreneurs. Today we are witnessing the reflection of our vision, and we are ready to bring in more innovative business concepts," commented Saleh Abdullah Lootah, CEO, Al Islami Foods.

"The entry into new markets is not only critical to the growth of the company, but it also forms an important part of our five-year strategic plan to expand into the international market," he added.

Established in 1981 to cater to the growing demand for Halal food, Al Islami Foods hopes to eventually introduce The Cart programme into Iran and Malaysia.
