Alcatel is to supply an internet protocol (IP) communications solution for the planned third terminal at Dubai International Airport. Under the terms of the agreement, Alcatel, which is now known as Alcatel-Lucent following its recent merger with Lucent Technologies, will provide a voice over IP (VoIP) solution for 16,000 users for the terminal. The deal was signed before the merger was completed last month. The implementation of the system is expected to start within the coming months and be completed in time for the opening of the terminal, which is scheduled for late 2007.
