Cladding manufacturer’s six million sq m facility adds to its plant in Turkey
Alubond USA, the UAE’s largest manufacturer of building cladding panels, has invested AED50 million ($13.6m) to increase its production capacity of A2 fire-resistant panels.
The new production lines in the six million sq m plant in Sharjah, in addition to its existing A2 panel production facility in Turkey, will bring its total capacity of A2 FR panels to 8 million square metres per year, making it the largest producer of A2 fire-resistant panels in the Middle East.
Alubond has said it is the only A2 brand in the Middle East that has obtained the UAE Civil defence certification, which are capable of withstanding temperatures of 332C.
Shaji Ul Mulk, founder and chairman of Mulk Holdings, brand owner of Alubond, stated: “Alubond USA stands for quality fire resistant aluminium composite cladding products. We would like to set an example for other products in the cladding industry and build a new era of fire resistant and accident free cladding products.
"We hope the industry players will follow the trend, taking a cue from this.”
In June this year, Alubond finished producing the controversial flammable plastic-core cladding after a series of tower fires, including the New Year's Eve blaze at The Address Downtown Dubai.
Alubond commands up to 50 percent of the cladding market in the country.
