Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, the luxury hotel chain co-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Prince Alwaleed, has appointed a new operations chief for the Middle East region.
Four Seasons said in a statement that it has promoted Christian Clerc, general manager of Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris to the role of senior vice president, hotel operations, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
In his new role based in Dubai, Clerc will lead hotel operations across EMEA and report to Christopher Norton, executive vice president, global product and operations and support the company's increased focus on product and service differentiation.
Swiss-national Clerc has worked at a variety of hotels in destinations across Europe, including Rome and Paris, before joining Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC in 2000 and has worked for the company in Latin America, the US and Europe.
The EMEA region currently represents 30 percent of the existing portfolio of Four Seasons hotels and resorts and the region is poised for considerable growth as the brand extends its footprint across both new and existing markets.
Expansion across the region will be marked by several key openings scheduled for 2014, followed by new market hotels for Four Seasons including a Jumeirah Beach property in Dubai and a project in Bahrain Bay.
The luxury hotelier added in the statement that, looking further ahead, projects were also at various stages of development in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Madrid and Morocco.
Norton said: "Christian's strategic thinking, paired with his operational expertise, will play a key role in ensuring a standard of excellence across all EMEA properties and support our significant growth plans for the region."
Clerc added: "I look forward to the opportunities ahead as we further enhance the guest experience in our properties, support future growth and strengthen the brand's leadership position across the region."For all the latest travel news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
