The project has enabled Amiral Maritime Corporation (AMC) to centralise financial reporting and analysis applications to its web site and other customer interfaces.

Egyptian logistics player, Amiral Maritime Corportation (AMC) has gone live with an Oracle Financials in just 60 days. The project, which is part of a AMC’s drive to streamline operations and improve customer service, has enabled the organisation to centralise its financial reporting and analysis applications to its web site and other customer interfaces. The implementation has been managed by AMC’s own in-house IT team and involved the deployment of Oracle General Ledger, Oracle Accounts Payable, Oracle Accounts Receivable, Oracle Financial Analyser, Oracle Cash Management and Oracle Financials Intelligence.AMC’s in-house development team has also been using Oracle’s database technology, 9i Application Server and Developer Suite to create a number of Java-based web sites. The interactive sites offer a number of services including port registration and berthing applications, and an increasingly important online communication channels for the company. Based on the response to these web sites, AMC — which owns Sokhna Port Development Company, Egyptian Maritime Services, International Shipping & Transportation Company and Royal Maritime — is considering additional portal and customer relationship management initiatives to expand its service offerings across its group.“AMC manages some of the most advanced shipping and logistics facilities in the Middle East and the volume forecast for cargo being handled through the Sokhna Port by 2005 is estimated at more than 20 million tons. With this type of aggressive growth target, AMC needed a technology partner with industry experience in the maritime sector, as well as an integrated and complete set of business solutions,” says Ibrahim Shoeib, group IT manager, AMC.“AMC is already deriving benefits from our sixty day implementation of Oracle Financials, and the technology platform supporting our customer and partner-facing web sites is also enabling swift development and deployment of our in-house applications,” adds Shoeib.AMC selected Oracle as its information management partner across the entire organisation following a successful Oracle implementation by the Sokhna Port Development Group.
