Amex bank opens Bahrain branch

American Express Bank has opened a branch of its Global Wealth Management division, a boutique banking operation, in the Al Moayed Tower in Bahrain.

The office will provide a point of contact and service for clients located across the Middle East.

Ashraf Issa, senior director and team leader, American Express Bank, Middle East and Turkey, said: "Bahrain is an excellent location from which to fulfil our clients' needs throughout the Gulf, as well as grow our presence and profile.

"This new office joins our offices in Dubai and Beirut, which further secures our ability to provide the highest levels of service to our clients wherever they may be located in the Middle East."

American Express Global Wealth Management had more than US$22 bn in global assets under management at the end of 2006.

Its clients benefit from the organisation's Global Economics Unit, which offers market views, risk management, global economic forecasts, as well as country risk analysis, covering around 80 countries. American Express Company has had offices in the Middle East since 1921. American Express Bank has offices in 47 countries.
