ANB deploys On-Air solution

Arab News Broadcasting chooses On-Air Central to provide automated end-to-end file-based playout for its new TV station.

Arab News Broadcasting (ANB), a new privately owned free-to-air television channel, has chosen On-Air Central to provide automated end-to-end file-based playout for its new TV station.

Based in London with four regional stations in the Middle East, ANB plans to broadcast eight hours a day by June1, 2004, and 24/7 later this year. As well as its news coverage, ANB will also broadcast programmes covering business, sport, travel, music, current affairs, health and technology. Around 80% of its schedule will comprise live broadcasts.

“Producing news programmes to tight deadlines using live feeds, filed reports, live and pre-recorded interviews and archive footage, presents difficult challenges for even the best-equipped broadcaster,” says Samans Baban, head of operations, ANB. “ON-AIR Central will greatly facilitate this process by providing powerful editing and reliable and versatile production tools for the studio and newsroom. ON-AIR Central is based on innovative technology designed specifically for modern broadcasting workflow.”

ANB will begin installation of the ON-AIR Central solution this month. The solution will provide end-to-end playout including automated programme transcoding, ingest, content management, scheduling, management of live data feeds with integrated graphics, playout, logging and creation of management reports.
