APC ramps up ME service support

Data centre power and cooling specialist APC has stepped up its regional presence, opening a service centre in the UAE to support its expansion plans.

Data centre power and cooling specialist APC has stepped up its regional presence, opening a service centre in the UAE to support its expansion plans.

The shared services centre is located at APC's Dubai office and provides call centre, technical support and service support to customers throughout MEA.

Leonid Mukhamedov, APC vice president for southeast Europe, CIS and the Middle East, told IT Weekly the firm has moved its entire regional management team from Ireland to the facility, as well as investing in additional manpower to staff the call centre.

"This definitely shows our focus on the Middle East, and especially on the UAE," Mukhamedov claimed.

He said APC was looking to expand in the region, highlighting the UAE and Saudi Arabia as key markets, especially in the oil and gas space.

He did not disclose the cost of setting up the centre or how many staff were now working from it.

The centre's opening is part of a push by APC to raise customer service levels, following its acquisition this year by French electrical equipment giant Schneider Electric for US$6.1 billion.

Mukhamedov said Schneider had created a business unit, Critical Power and Cooling Services, and was in the process of merging APC with another acquisition, MGE UPS Systems, in that unit.
