Aptec University to focus on security

The latest chapter of the distribution seminar set-piece from Aptec will focus on the pressing IT needs of security and wireless, with an emphasis on upgrading reseller skills.

Aptec’s resellers will get a hefty dose of wireless networking and security opportunities at Aptec University in Dubai, as it prepares its channel to match end user needs.

According to the pan-Middle East distributor, the emphasis will be placed on how resellers can use these technologies to their advantage within their own organisations, in order to provide them to their customers.

Resellers attending the event will gain access to heavy discounts on the products demonstrated during Aptec University for the month following the event, which takes place on May 19 and 20.

“What we are trying to do through Aptec University is to pass along knowledge to our reseller base for them to make use of, and to upgrade their skills,” says Bahaa Salah, general manager, Aptec Gulf.

“And I think an important part is to identify the trends for them, because they hear about a lot of things, but they may not know which ones are really [key]. What we do is we start six months before Aptec University, to analyse where we think the technology areas are that they should be concentrating on,” says Linda Al Tarifi, marketing manager, Aptec Gulf.

“This year it is going to be about wireless mobility in computing, and security; the two most pressing issues in the IT industry now,” she added.

Compaq, D-Link, IBM, 3Com, Computer Associates, Network Associates, Symantec, Microsoft, Lotus, APC, and U.S.Robotics have already agreed to host seminars during Aptec University.
