The first Arab Woman Awards is set to take place in Riyadh this month, with the judges recently meeting to choose this year’s winners.
The annual awards, which are held in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and now Saudi Arabia, have also announced their plans to add Bahrain to their calendar of 2015.
Established in 2009 by ITP Publishing, the largest publishing house in the GCC, the series of events have recognised and honoured over 170 successful women from across diverse fields including art, business, fashion, entrepreneurship and charity.
Sue Holt, deputy managing director of ITP Consumer and founder of the Arab Woman Awards, said: “We launched the awards after hearing stories of incredible women and wanted to provide a culturally acceptable platform in order to celebrate their achievements. The awards have gathered momentum and we are proud to bring them to KSA to recognise the remarkable women of this country.”
The fifteen winners of these awards are privately selected by a judging panel. Amongst this year’s board members was HRH Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud who participated in the selection process which is based on the nominees accomplishments in the last 12 months and their contribution to the country.
Previous recipients of the Arab Woman Awards include HRH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qassimi, HRH Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif Mohammed Al Nahayan, HE Huda Al Matroushi, HE Fatima Al Jaber and HRH Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Arab Woman Awards KSA 2014 ceremony will be held at a private, ladies only gala dinner on February 17 at the Faisaliah Hotel, Riyadh. For all the latest business news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
