As it seeks to diversify its economy and create jobs, the kingdom is spending more than $500bn on its infrastructure from universities, to airports and hospitals.
Sheikh Abdullah Al Rushaid’s company was founded in 1978 and headquartered in Khobar, with interests in manufacturing, construction, engineering, trading, commercial real estate, technology, oil and gas.
The company, which employs more than 35,000 people, has construction tie-ins in the kingdom and abroad, partnering with international engineering giants like Foster Wheeler, Bouygues Construction, Baker Hughes, Dresser Industries, Weatherford, Cleveland Bridge and Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts.
If you question its scope, Arabian Rockbits — the region’s largest manufacturer of rockbits — came from the partnership of its Al Rushaid Investment Company and Halliburton subsidiary Security DBS.
