Saad Hariri

Industry: Politics

Country: Saudi Arabia

Wealth: 3.7 Billion

In November 2009, 40-year-old Saad Hariri, the Saudi-born
businessman, heir and son of the late prime minister Rafik Hariri, was sworn in
as Lebanon’s prime minister. The wealthiest of the Hariri clan, he holds hefty
stakes in a numbaer of large firms. Following the downturn, however, we have
revised the value of his construction portfolio. Raised in Saudi Arabia, Saad
managed part of his father’s business until the elder Hariri’s assassination in
2005, when he returned home to follow his father’s path in politics and became
an elected member of Parliament. He had been general manager of Saudi Oger, the
family’s $9bn construction company. Married with three children, he graduated
from the McDonough School of Business.
