Ata invest sets up shop in Dubai

Firm opens office in DIFC and aims to build stronger trading relations between Turkey and Gulf countries

Ata Invest, the flagship company of Turkish capital markets and advisory firm, Ata Finance Group, has opened an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Its first act was to bring together delegates from Turkey and the GCC to discuss the prospects for trade between the regions, with 30 dignitaries and business leaders flown in from Turkey.

Topics discussed by the public sector panel included privatisation, property, infrastructure and investment promotion, while the private sector round table spoke about their company strategies and expectations for their industries.

HE Dr Omar bin Sulaiman, governor of DIFC, said: “We welcome Turkish companies, such as Ata Invest, that share our vision of global promise. It is part of the larger vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE, ruler of Dubai and president of the DIFC, together with the Government of Dubai, to create an inclusive environment for progress and economic development – including both West and East, building upon the strength of our shared wealth and creating new opportunities for shared prosperity.”

He added: “The entry of Ata Invest into the region’s international financial centre heralds the beginning of a new era in financial cooperation between Turkey and the Gulf. The GCC states and Turkey have already begun to reach out to one another in several key areas, including trade, commerce, construction and, most recently, financial services.”

Ata Invest is one of the largest independent capital markets operations in Turkey, with a strong focus on investment banking and wealth management services. It has expertise in investment banking services including advising on private equity, cross-border M&A, public offerings and general consulting, and is the first investment banking service platform from Turkey to set up in Dubai.

Korhan Kurdoglu, chairman, Ata Invest, said: “We would like to thank both our partners at DIFC and our valued guests for participating in this morning’s conference, which marks the opening of Ata Invest Dubai at DIFC. Ata Invest Dubai will continue to facilitate the development of enhanced economic cooperation and dialogue between Turkey and the GCC and we look forward to extending every effort towards this endeavour in the future.”
