Sorouh Real Estate has awarded a US $17.7 million (AED62.95 million) contract to Greek contractor, Athena, for its Shams Abu Dhabi Marina and seawall project.

The contractor will build a marina and two seawalls along the island parameters on Shams Abu Dhabi, which is Sorouh's flagship project being built on Reem Island. The first seawall will comprise concrete blocks reinforced with rock fills behind, covering 2km of the island along the north and east coasts of Shams Abu Dhabi.

Mounir Haidar, CEO, Sorouh, said: "Athena was chosen because it is renowned worldwide for its experience in the field of marine engineering and construction".

Hairdar added that the second wall would surround the Shams Marina on the east coast.
