Atkins blows competition away at MEP awards

Engineering and design consultancy picks up four awards including night's top honour.

Engineering and design consultancy Atkins blew away the competition at the MEP Middle East Awards on Wednesday, picking up four honours on the night, including the coveted Supreme Judges Award.

The MEP Middle East Awards celebrate outstanding achievements within the region’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) sector.

Atkins scooped the awards for Training, Innovation of the Year and MEP Consultancy of the Year, in addition to the Supreme Judges Award, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Hyder Consulting, Reem Emirates Aluminium and Al Habtoor Engineering.

Drake & Scull and ETA M&E Division were the evenings other standout winners.

Drake & Scull picked up the Medium MEP Project of the Year award for the Kuwait State Audit Bureau headquarters and MEP Contractor of the Year.

Meanwhile, ETA M&E Division won Major MEP Project of the Year and Major MEP Project of the Year for the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC) exhibition facilities.

In total 12 awards were presented on the night, judged by an independent panel of industry experts, recognising achievements at project and company level.

Despite missing out to Atkins in the category of Innovation of the Year, Reem Emirates Aluminium picked up Small MEP Project of the Year.

Al Shirawi US Chillers scooped the award for Specialist Contractor of the Year, while Basheer Massad of BK Gulf won MEP Project Manager of the Year.

Pacific Control Systems’ headquarters was given the award for Sustainable Design of the Year.
