Audemars Piguet launches new Royal Oak Offshore collection

A detailed look at the latest timepieces for ladies from the Swiss watch manufacturer

Audemars Piguet launches new Royal Oak Offshore collection

Audemars Piguet unveiled its latest collection of the new Royal Oak Offshore in Dubai on Tuesday, with a powerful women’s selection that responds to modern demands for larger, more visible and performance-oriented watches; timepieces that combine all the glamour of a high jewellery piece with practical considerations and the latest technological innovations.

Audemars Piguet started producing watches for women as early as 1883. The trend for diminutive watches was gradually inverted during the 20th century, as Audemars introduced the world’s first luxury sport’s watch for ladies, Royal Oak, in 1976.

For 2014, Audemars Piguet has extended its iconic range of Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore models. The new Royal Oak Offshore for ladies, available in steel and pink gold versions, boasts a slimmer more sophisticated design.

In addition to launching its second Haute Joaillerie timepiece, the new collection introduces the Royal Oak Offshore 37mm, the Selfwinding Royal Oak 41mm and the Royal Oak Chronograph 41mm.

Originally designed as a male chronograph for extreme sports, the Royal Oak Offshore’s newcomer is the 37 mm collection for ladies, which is available in both steel and pink gold versions. This new piece retains the bold design features of the original men’s chronograph revisited in a slimmer case with a white rubber and the 32 brilliant-cut diamonds.

The Royal Oak 41 mm comes in a pink gold case gem-set with 166 diamonds. 511 grade IF diamonds (4.16 carats) decorate the external surfaces. The diamond pavé dial has been set with 345 diamonds (1.07 carats) arranged in a circular pattern, interrupted at 3 o’clock for the date window. A proprietary self-winding manufacture movement –calibre 3120- powers the hours, minutes, central seconds and date functions.

The Royal Oak Chronograph 41mm is equipped with 966 IF (highest clarity) diamonds, for a total of approximately 7,84 carats. The timepiece is powered by a selfwinding movement – calibre 2385 and has a 40 hour power reserve. The screw-locked crown and pushers of the Royal Oak Chronograph ensure water resistance to 50 metres.
