The man behind Australia's failed bid to host the 2022 World Cup said on Monday that the battle was not yet over.

Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy said the "last word hasn't been heard yet" on the FIFA vote which awarded the tournament to Qatar after defeating the likes of the United States and Australia.

Lowy, quoted by AFP, did not say how or why Qatar would lose the rights, but said it related to "the state of the FIFA executive committee".

Lowy, who was re-elected as FFA chairman on Monday, said: "I don't know whether you recall when I came back from that fateful day (after losing the bid) and I said 'this is not the last word about awarding the World Cup'. Well it wasn't the last word.

"Don't ask me to elaborate because I don't have a crystal ball ... but the media all over the world talking is about that, the awarding particularly of '22, the state of the FIFA executive committee - all that stuff.

"It's not over. I don't exactly know where it will bounce. The only thing I know is it's not over yet."

Qatar's successful bid became implicated in a broad-ranging scandal that plagued FIFA this year, with FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke saying in a leaked Email that they "bought the World Cup".

Questions have also been raised about the feasibility of Qatar's promise to air-condition stadiums to combat the searing heat in the Middle East during the World Cup.

Frank just concentrate on Auz being in the next world cup rather than whining about something which is not in your control.....yes there are challenges.....South Africa overcame it, Russia will definitely be good as well. Let's make it to Euro 2020 first then talk about all of this as by then Qatari's themselves will be able to tell you yes YOU whether they will be able to host it or not. Chillout and come to the middle east to feel exactly what it is like.....well about the 50+ deg cent heat we shall think about that too......2022 is a long way my friend. Hope to see you there alive and kicking.

I'm doubtful that 2022 will come to Qatar . The Qatari's just need the exposure , whether they hold the tournament is irrelevant to them and so far they've acheived their goal if you pardon the pun.

Sepp Blatter will be gone in 2015 and Michele Platini will get the job . He will launch a full investigation as he was officially opposed to the original bid .
It's nothing to do with jealousy and everything to do with , location , attitude and common sense. Anyone that's been to Qatar will know exactly what i'm talking about.
