Avaya scoops Miercom award

Avaya has won Miercom’s internet protocol (IP) telephony competition. Miercom, which is a network consultancy and product test centre, has awarded the highest score ever recorded in its annual large-scale IP PBX shoot-out to Avaya.

Avaya has won Miercom’s internet protocol (IP) telephony competition. Miercom, which is a network consultancy and product test centre, has awarded the highest score ever recorded in its annual large-scale IP PBX shoot-out to Avaya.

The news was received with considerable enthusiasm in the Middle East and North Africa region, where Avaya is making a major push to increase awareness about the benefits of IP telephony deployment. "Avaya pulled out all the stops and has set a new competitive benchmark with the highest score we've ever recorded in our seven years of testing IP telephony systems," says Rob Smithers, CEO of Miercom.

"The company's systems and software just keep getting better, and again delivered rock-solid performance and reliability during this test review."

The Middle East and North Africa region is at a critical juncture in its IP telephony evolution, as banks, logistics and entertainment providers go for IP. “Avaya is leading the charge to ensure that regional organisations understand the competitive, productivity, and cost-saving benefits of IP telephony, and our position in this sector is confirmed by the recent Miercom recognition,” says Nidal Abou-Ltaif, managing director for Avaya Middle East and North Africa.

Miercom's test looked at IP telephony solutions based on large-scale systems supporting more than 1,000 stations, advanced voice-processing sub-systems and superior security features. Miercom notes that Avaya is the only vendor tested that had real-time protocol (RTP) encryption also running on its IP Softphone. RTP encryption a higher level of security for the Softphone, without sacrificing calls efficiency or quality.
