DC Aviation Al-Futtaim says expansion will more than double capacity as well as enable it to add two single aisle aircraft maintenance bays
Dubai-based DC Aviation Al-Futtaim has announced that it has broken ground on a major expansion of its facility at Dubai South.
Scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2017, the new hangar will add 6,800 sq m of covered space to the existing business aviation terminal at Dubai South bringing its total land-side plot area to 24,000 sq m and the apron area to 13,000 sq m.
The company said the expansion will more than double the hangar capacity as well as enable it to add two single aisle aircraft maintenance bays and provide enough space for an additional workshop and equipment storage.
It will also significantly increase the number and size of aircraft which can be accommodated at the facility, a statement said.
“The expansion of our facility demonstrates our commitment to continue our investment at Dubai South and to ensure our facility and services are in line with the growing demands of our VVIP customers,” said Holger Ostheimer, general manager, DC Aviation Al-Futtaim.
“Since commencing operations in 2013, DCAF has been steadily scaling up its operations and the company now has four aircraft under management including two Bombardier Challenger 604 and a Gulfstream G200 and a Bombardier Global XRS,” he added.
DCAF is a joint venture between Al-Futtaim and Germany’s DC Aviation. Its core areas of business include aircraft management, maintenance, FBO and ground handling and business jet charter. For all the latest transport news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
