Bader Al Darwish wins big at Arabian Business Qatar awards

Bader Al Darwish, the chairman and managing director of Darwish Holding, picked up the Visionary of the Year award at the Arabian Business Qatar awards, held on Tuesday night in Doha.

Thirteen of Qatar’s top companies were recognised at the event, which took place at the Grand Hyatt Doha.

Al Darwish runs a huge conglomerate with interests in retail, luxury brands, malls, real estate and investments, as well as other sectors, and is also a board member at Qatar National Bank.

Other winners included: Qatar Business Incubation Centre, which won the Special Recognition Award; Maersk Oil Qatar’s Eng Fatima Mahmoud, who won the Most Inspiring Woman Award; Bedaya Center, which won the Award for Entrepreneurship; and Doha Bank, which won Bank of the Year.

Other companies to receive awards included RasGas, for CSR; Anantara, for hospitality; Gulf Drilling International, for industry; and N-KOM, for transport. Vodafone Qatar won the Telecoms Company of the Year award, while Contractor of the Year went to Urbacon.

Real estate giant Ezdan Holding was recognised as Property Company of the Year.
