Bahrain's central bank said on Thursday that it has no current plans to issue either conventional or Islamic bonds.

"The Central Bank of Bahrain has no current intention to issue debt, either conventional or Islamic, at this time," a spokesman for the bank told Reuters.

Quoting banking sources, Reuters reported on Wednesday that the kingdom was in talks with lenders about making an international issue of sukuk. The issue was expected in the first quarter of 2017, the sources said.
