Bahrain Power List-Steve Harrison
Bahrain’s Economic Development Board is charged with formulating and overseeing the country’s economic development strategy, and as executive director and advisor to chief executive Mohammed Bin Essa Al Khalifa, Steve Harrison has a significant say in the direction these efforts take.
A former deputy British ambassador to Bahrain, Harrison had an extensive career in the diplomatic service dating back to 1986 when he served in the Indian Ocean Islands section of the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
In addition to a previous stint in the British Embassy in Bahrain, Harrison worked as consul general at Ekaterinburg for the Russian Federation. He was also deputy private secretary to the Duke of York at Britain’s Buckingham Palace.
Prior to becoming Al Khalifa’s right-hand man, Harrison was executive director for financial services for business development and special projects at the EDB from 2008. Holding linguistic qualifications in Arabic and Russian, he can often be seen as a spokesperson for the board in local and regional media.
