Bahrain's Batelco appoints Hinnawi as new Group CEO

Telecoms operator Bahrain Telecommunications Co, better known as Batelco, has announced the appointment of Ihab Hinnawi as its Group CEO.

Hinnawi has held the role of acting Group CEO since February, with Batelco's board of directors saying they have been "very pleased" with his performance and dedication.

Hinnawi, who has over 25 years of managerial experience, has been CEO of Batelco's Umniah operation since 2009 and previously held the role of general manager of the Enterprise Division at Batelco Bahrain and the role of CEO at Batelco Jordan.

Batelco chairman, Sheikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, said that Hinnawi would receive the ongoing support of the board and the executive teams at all the Group's operations.

Last month, Batelco reported a 16 percent fall in third-quarter profit on declining revenue and losses from some overseas operations.

The former monopoly, which operates in 14 countries, made a net profit of 13.4 million dinars ($35.53 million).
