Bahrain's Batelco appoints new CEO of its domestic operations

Bahrain's Batelco appoints new CEO of its domestic operations

Bahrain Telecommunications Co (Batelco) has appointed Muna Al Hashemi as the chief executive of its domestic operations, the former monopoly said on Sunday.

Hashemi had been acting CEO since last December and has worked for Batelco since 1994.

The telecom operator has units in 14 territories including Jordan, Kuwait and Yemen and several small islands such as Jersey and the Isle of Man.

Batelco reported a 27.5 percent rise in second-quarter net profit on Thursday as cost savings, a higher yield on invested cash and lower interest expenses outweighed a decline in revenue.
