Bahrain Maritime and Mercantile International (BMMI) will use Oracle’s E-Business Suite software to boost efficiency.
Bahrain Maritime and Mercantile International (BMMI) is implementing Oracle's E-Business Suite software to help it improve communication with customers and suppliers. BMMI said in a statement that the US $540,000 rollout will help it to better forecast demand, keep track of payment status and manage inventory.
"As our business grows, our focus is on an enterprise application with a strong reliable database, and an application server to provide performance for our regional and global presence in countries like Djibouti, Qatar, and Kuwait," said Mike Kruger, CIO, BMMI.
"Oracle showed a good understanding of our business requirements, and demonstrated the solution's relevance in all business aspects. Not only did Oracle provide us with a state-of-the-art ERP platform, it also consolidated seven Oracle database instances and integrated many legacy systems."
BMMI describes itself as a major sales & marketing, logistics and supply chain group with operations on three continents. Its annual turnover now approaches US $200 million and it employs around 600 staff.
Oracle's E-Business Suite includes warehouse management, HR, supply chain, financials and demand planning functionality. For BMMI, the product's supply chain management modules were a key attraction, allowing it to view invoices and shipment status as well as improving forecasting.
"BMMI had been operating on supply chain and logistics systems that were installed when the business was much smaller. They therefore needed a warehouse management system that would enhance growth and performance," said Arun Khehar, vice president, retail, private and manufacturing, Oracle MEA.
"A good warehouse management system was crucial to the company's future growth and performance. That is where Oracle's WMS came into play."For all the latest tech news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
