The UAE's Central Bank has issued a commemorative silver coin to celebrate the journey of the first Emirati astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri.

The commemorative coin is now available for sale at CBUAE’s main office and branches. The silver coin weighing 40 grams is being sold at the price of AED300.

Last year, Al Mansouri became the first Emirati to travel to the International Space Station.

Through this initiative, CBUAE said it seeks to praise the vision and guidance of the UAE’s leadership, which would enhance the country's position globally.

Mubarak Rashed Al Mansoori, Governor of Central Bank of the UAE, said: “Today, we are delighted to express our pride in the efforts of the first Emirati and Arab astronaut, and we at the Central Bank of the UAE are keen to contribute to preserving and perpetuating this historic achievement by issuing a commemorative silver coin.”

“Hazza Al Mansouri has proven that UAE believes in making the impossible possible where as a nation we are forward thinking, and ready to achieve UAE’s leadership vision across all sectors,” he added.
