A number of services will no longer be available at bank branches
First Abu Dhabi Bank has suspended some banking services at its branches across the UAE – including cash deposits – as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
A statement on the bank’s website said that “cash deposits will only be made through ATMs, with no coins allowed until further notice”.
“Cheque deposits are to be made through smart cash deposit machines and cheque drop boxes,” the statement added. “We kindly ask you to minimise visits to the branches where possible, and to use alternative banking channels.”
Other discounted services listed on the website include funds transfers within the UAE, funds transfers to non-UAE banks, activating a new card, updating email addresses, phone numbers and Emirates ID details and requesting new cheque books.
"For customers, we recommend replacing visits to our branch or office with alternatives available to use remotely at home," the statement said.
The bank said that its measures would remain in place “as long as necessary”. The company has also created a dedicated ‘Crisis Management Team’ to ensure an effective response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
There have so far been 113 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UAE.
